At my work we have a private LAN(10.2xx.xxx.xxx) for our office pc's, and also offer wifi(192.1xx.xxx.xxx) for our customer's. My boss has decided that he wants to setup a single printer so that employees have access through the ethernet and customers have access via the wifi.
He bought a an all in one, with both wifi and ethernet capability. Before opening the box I spoke with tech support for the printer they indicate it has to be one network connection or the other. It can't be both.
To do this, it was suggested to hook the printer up to the ethernet and also to tether it via USB to a PC tied into the wifi router to accomplish this. However that would be a last resort, as I don't want to tie up a pc just for the purposes of printing. I was told that the network portion of the printer uses it's own print server, and the USB would use the PC's print server.
Any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated, even if you have a suggestion for a printer that can in fact do exactly what I'm looking for.
Thanks in advance!
