Hey guys, I been collecting parts for the last couple of months from different sales to hopefully build my first desktop by December. So far, here's what I got
i7 4970k
Fractual Design R4 case
Crucial 240 GB SSD
Seasonic 660W Platinum Full Molecule Power Supply
WD Green 3 TB Harddrive

I was planning to get the GTX970, but it's OOS everywhere. So I'm deciding to use the MoBo output while I'm waiting for it to come back in stock. My main use for this built is gaming, photoshop, and streaming videos. I want the build to be able to overclock, run four fans, run a dvd drive, and a media card drive. I also do plan to use SLI in the future

TD is having a $27 off $270 sale, and I was planning to get the MoBo, heatsink, and some other essentials to finish the build. The heatsink I'm looking at is the Cooling Master Hyper 12 Evo. My ideal budget for the MoBo is about $175.

Here's a couple of board I'm looking at
The Asus Hero VII for $205
The Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SOC for $169.99 with $20 additional rebate
The MSI Z97-GAMING 5 $145

The Hero is a little over budget, but it has the best reviews. However, I'm reading it has problem with the 4970k and that concerns me. The Gigabyte only has 4 CPU phases and most people seems to be getting the FORCE version giving this board little reviews. Lastly, the MSI seems to be good for the price, but people are saying the BIOS update is difficult.

Again, these 3 are not the only choice, if you can recommend me a better board, I be happy too.

Solution
The MSI Z97-GAMING 5 , seems to be best option, so why are you worry about bios updates having such a new mobo?
And there is a tremendous mobo out there, which is the ASRocK Z97 Extreme4, even below that prize range.
I really recomend it.
