I just bough a gtx 970, put it in the pcie x16 slot, instal the lastest driver and I realise my card only use the pcie slot as a x8 instead of a x16. While running some benchmark I realise my gpu dont us all of his memory only being at 4ghz while being a bit overclock. Is it because of the pcie problem or something else. I tried to find something on google but nothing came. (I'm using a gigabyte z68xp-ud5 as mobo)

Thanks

It works fine(the slot) your motherboard supports pcie2 which is in turn half as powerfull as pcie 3 an 16 x pci2 slot may show as 8 pcie3 due to having half the bandwidth of a 16x pcie3 slot. This is likely the reason. Where is this being reported? As for the ram speed, do you see this 4Ghz ram speed when the card is at load?

I would Flash the Bios from the website as Gigabyte might have an update that would fix this issue of your PCI Express slot being incorrectly detected. You can download the bios, put it on a flash drive, boot up the computer, go into Bios, and flash the Bios to see if this fixes the issue. I would als ogo to the graphics card manufacturer website and downloa dthe newest Bios from there as a firmware update to the graphics card as well. Then retest.
