MSI 780 ti Gaming SLI in Fractal R4 question

Hello. My computer is currently in a Corsair Carbide 500R and while it's a great case, I want to move to a sleeker looking case with some noise dampening.

In the Carbide, the 780 ti that is on top reaches 80 degrees when both cards are under full load. The bottom cards sit at 65 degrees. When I had just the one card installed it maxed out at 70-72 degrees under full load so adding the second card raised the first cards temps by 8-10 degrees. The fans work much harder at 80 degrees than they do at 70, they stay at 85% speed.

These MSI coolers are great so even at 85% the fans are not super loud but I'd still like them to be lower and I think the noise dampening in the Fractal would help with this.

My concern is what the temps would be like in the Fractal since it has all that noise dampening and the airflow is not as good as the Carbide.

If anyone has any input on this or experience with it it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Here's my build...

Case- Corsair Carbide 500R
Mobo- MSI G45 Z87 Gaming
CPU- i5 4670k
CPU Cooler- Noctua NH-D14
GPU- MSI 780 ti Gaming SLI
RAM- Gskill RIpjaw 1600XMP
PSU- Seasonic X 1050W Gold

New games are going to start making proper use of XFire or SLI configurations - old games don't support it but then again they'd be easy enough to run with a single GPU. The Fractal cases have more than enough space for airflow assuming you actually take advantage of the side-panel area for cable management, so that's not a problem. Provided that nothing is cluttered there should be minimal differences in temperatures when running SLI/XFire.

I own the Fractal Design Define R4 and the temps are low and my PC is barely audible, even while stressing it in some benchmark software or something with all sound muted. The maximum my computer gets to is mid-high 60 degrees on both CPU and GPU, and they're overclocked and I modified voltage on both.

Thanks for the replies guys. Icaraeus those are good temps for the GPU, similar to mine when I have just the one card installed and I've not overclocked it at all besides what they did at the factory. My CPU rarely reaches 60 degrees though if ever. I think the highest I've seen it at was 55 degrees and it is a Haswell CPU which supposedly run hot but it isn't overclocked. I have a big Noctua air cooler though.

So you think it's safe to SLI two of these big cards in the Fractal then? I mean I know it's probably safe but I don't want the top card reaching 83 degrees and throttle down the core.

My motherboard does support it and it does have a gap between the cards. I'm just concerned about the airflow of the case. I originally wanted to order the Fractal when I was ordering the rest of this computer but I was told that it's not a good idea for SLI or Crossfire and that I should instead get the case I have currently which is the Carbide 500R. I really like the Fractal though and I don't even know if I will really make use of SLI that much since all new games that are released don't support it right away. Either way though I would like to hear from someone who has built with the case and used SLI or Crossfire with it to see what temps they got.

Honestly, I think it should be fine.

What I meant by new games was the newest games. They release these games with no SLI support at all and you have to wait but I beat them within a week or two after release. I have lots of games though and I do want to go back and play them all at some point as they are still amazing games and I want to replay them. So SLI would be great for the "older" games. Unfortunately for the new games you have to wait till they release the support for SLI for them.

I think I will just order the case and try it. I think it should be good. Thanks :)
