i want to make an mid range desktop.
and i am confused in INTEL cpu and AMD cpu.
can anyone tell me clearly whats with these two processors.
GPU, i want to go with GTX 760 but i can afford GTX 970.

Solution
Hi there,

First of all, if you can afford it then go for the 970. It provides the best bang for your buck right now with great performance.

As for the cpu, I'd go with intel. It's not that AMD cpus are bad but the thing is, you can't go wrong with intel. They are the most reliable and widely used cpus right nowadays. I'd recommend at least an i5 4690 for gaming.

if you can afford a gtx970 go with that, you wont have to upgrade it for a long time. Intel cpu and amd cpu's are pretty different. AMD cpu's generally have high clock speed and more cores and higher power consumption. Intel cpu's have a lower clock speed and less cores (at the same price point) but can process a lot more information per core and per clock cycle, they are more efficient. Intel cpu's favor gaming because most games cant utillize more than 4 cores, so having 4 strong intel cores is better than 8 weak amd cores. What is your full budget, if we have that and your general location we can help you pick a build from parts suppliers you can access.

For a midrange gaming desktop, an AMD FX-8350 with the gtx 970 is going to be way better than an i5 with a gtx 760. Your GPU will get bottlenecked before your CPU for gaming, so put your money in the GPU.

No, your cpu will bottleneck the system, it will hold back the gpu, it won't perform at it's full potential.

Not really sorry. You should buy a new mobo with a z97 chipset and an lga 1150 socket cpu. You should be able to get those with your budget.

z chipsets overclock better. But you are correct, if you don't plan to overclock then a h97 is enough for you.

Sorry I don't have the time to go into detail about ocing, but you can find a lot of info about it on this stie and others too.

But it's basically pushing the cpu or gpu above it's factory speed.
