I wanted to know which one of the above two processors would be better. I mostly multi task a lot and use 3d sculpting and rendering software. I play a few games like settlers 6 and some new rockstar games. My other hardware components are:
GPU - Sapphire AMD R9 270X Dual-X
Primary HD - Samsung Evo 840 120gb ssd
Secondary HD - Seagate 7200 rpm 1Tb
RAM - Gskill 4Gb X 2 Ddr3 1600Mhz Cl9 Ripjaws X RAM (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL)
PSU - Corsair CX600

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you are on budget i would go with FX6300... best multitasker of them. if you openm the two extra cores (it is trully a hexacore), and also a good overclock maybe 3.8GHz the phenom would be the best one in benchs (brute force which is great for render) but in games the core i3 could be better in almost all cases. The phenom is no longer a good multitask CPU, also a lot of power, and you will need a good motherboard for high voltages if you want OC and unlock (and in some cases backward your bios, some MOBO stop to use the core unlocke feature).

if you really are in multitask, the FX 8320/50 and the newest are the way to go, i think they have at last the same multitasking potencial as an i7, you could do a lot of stuff and gaming at once

but as said, for single thread intel all the way
