Question About Combining Different Sizes/Frequency

Right now my system is running Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz CL9.

I have been given a pair of used Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333 Mhz CL9.

I have 4 slots for installing RAM on my 'ASUS 1155 P8P67-M PRO Motherboard'. Can I install the 2x2GB in the spare channel to get a total of 12GB?

The m-board manual says the different sizes aren't an issue, so long as each pair is in a single channel...so I suppose the question I am asking is: Will the the fact the frequencies are different affect anything? The manual doesn't mention it.

Thanks,
Josh.

The speed won't make too much difference, however unless you find yourself running at 100% memory, I wouldn't bother changing it simply because those 2-5 FPS make it so much sweeter.

OK.

Is it worth having 12GB over 8GB if it means the frequency is lowered to 1333Mhz? I use the system for playing games, I don't do any CAD work or anything...and people say 12GB is overkill for games, so...maybe not worth it?
