My monitor has a resolution of 1280 x 768 and which card would be best, would a 2gb be fine or a 1gb is better?

The 270X is a beast and is supported by you PSU. I would definitely get it as it can run BF4 on high at 40FPS and with AA on, 30-35 FPS. It is the best bang for your buck.

What is your budget? At those resolutions, an AMD 270X GPU will max out any game. A 260X will be able to do medium-high settings if that is what fits your budget.

Who told you that? 3GB+ is needed for multimomnitor configs and with the monitor you have, even if you add another one, the 260X has 2GB of VRAM so you will be covered for up to 3 720p monitors. What is your budget for a GPU and what is your PSU?

Remember to get the MSI or Asus DCII versions as they have the best cooling, look amazing, and have the best warranty and customer support. MSI Gaming cards come with MSI Afterburner which is a really good program to help beginners overclock their card. If you are interested in OCing, then get the MSI version, otherwise, choose whichever one of the two is the cheapest on your preferred website.

you can overclock any card brand with afterburner not just the msi cards

I know that, but it is optimized for MSI cards.
