Hi
Im looking for a cheap fast read speed (faster than my rather average 5400 rpm hdd) storage device.

This is because i am getting a new computer with brilliant specs. only i didnt have the money to spend on an ssd.

I want to use an alternative which is cheaper but a better read speed than my hdd.

I am considering a usb 3.0 drive. My question is:

Am i right in thinking from this graph here http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/usb-3.0-thumb-drive-review,3477-3.html
that the CORSAIR Flash Voyager GT 32GB USB 3.0 has the best read speed and will be better than my hdd for video editing (reading video files of) and reading game data files of?

A Flash Drive will not be able to store anything useful other than games. Take out teh HDD you have in your build and replace it with a Western Digital Black Series 1TB HDD, the HDD is a beast at 7200RPM and extremely fast read+write speeds. Windows will not accept the flash drive as a storage device as it is coded to be a portable device, not a solitary storage component.

Ive customized my laptop to be energy efficient and at the same time powerful as i can for the best price, 7200 rpm hdd will drain the battery more than 5400rpm hdd, and a lot more than USB (which are AS energy efficient as an ssd).

i have an SSHD so i don't need to store any system files on it the usb

so PLEASE tell me if the CORSAIR Flash Voyager GT 32GB USB 3.0 will be faster to read than than my 5400 rpm SSHD
model no: ST500LM000

Get a 64GB SSD, they are this cheap, almost as good as the voyager: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211718
