Hey all, I am looking into building a new computer. My last, I had built but it was heavily music oriented to fit with my synthesizers.

This one I want for mostly a few things - productivity (email, Word, Excel, browsing), and to max out graphics while playing Second Life, Skyrim and WoW. Also to take and edit photos from SL.

My current PC is an older AMD quad CPU and a GTX560ti (I think), and I lag a lot when at ultra, so what levels of performance should I be looking for, and is it possible under $1k?

Thanks!

You'll be able to overclock that cpu, and also throw a second 970 down the road, a more economic option would be this:

Post the model of your PSU, maybe you already have a good one.

I looked up my PSU, its a Raidmaz RX-730 - reading here I see they are... well... crap.

I like the options above - seems like I can fit more in at less $ than I thought. This is a great help. Thanks all.
