I know some 6 series had a sata bug, but internet opinion conflicts on whether the H61 did or didn't - someone help please ?
I ask on the intel forum but no definitive answer from them.

More specifically would a ASRock H61M-VG3 mobo have the bug ?

Please look at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#5.2F6.2F7.2F8.2F9_Series_chipsets
Quote: "The Cougar Point Intel 6 series chipsets with stepping B2 were recalled due to a hardware bug that causes their 3 Gbit/s Serial ATA to degrade over time until they become unusable. Stepping B3 of the Intel 6 series chipsets will have the fix for this."
I cannot find the stepping number on the ASRock website, you can send them a email to ask.

So I think if I bought one on ebay, which was the plan, I wouldn't know if it was one that was never recalled ? I can imagine a lot of these going on the second hand market.

Why would someone have kept an old one when they were replaced for free? The 3 at the end of the model number indicates it has the SLJ4B B3 (revision 3) chipset.
