i just got a new nvidia gtx 780 with a 750w GPU, a haswell cpu and 8 gigs of memory. when i play any game, for example nba 2k15. for the first couple of minutes, i am stutter free and the game runs really smooth. than after like 5 minutes, it starts to slowly stutter and starts skipping frames for like 1-2 seconds. it gets really annoying. my cpu temps are around 50c and the video card temps are pretty decent too around 45c. I have changed a lot of parts in the pc and i cannot figure out the problem. i had the same issue with my old video card which was a 650 ti boost, but the frame rate was way lower with that card. i am clueless and i have tried little fixed that i found online, and i just came seem t fix the problem. can anyone help?

If it isn't a heat related issue, it sounds like it could be driver related. I'd make sure the video card drivers are up to date and the motherboard chipset drivers as well. I remember years ago having similar issues on an old A-bit board due to the Via chipset drivers being outdated. It is also possible you have leftover traces of old drivers that could be causing the problem as well since you mentioned you've changed a lot of parts. Those can be checked in the Device Manager while running in safe mode.

that makes sense what you are saying; however, i did a complete fresh install of windows 7 64 bit and i used driver updater software to update chipset drivers, i also updated the video card drivers. the only thing i can think of is a motherboard issue, but i am not sure how i can diagnose it, the mobo seems to work well for everything else except when i am gaming, so i do not even know if its a mobo issue. i have tried, almost all driver updated related fixes and nothing has helped so far. i keep reading other posts on stuttering, and every fix that helped other people does not help what i am encountering. not sure where to go from here.

yeah, with a fresh install of windows, that should resolve the issue of legacy drivers. Which driver updater software are you using? I do know with some vendors their chipset drivers are customized to the particular board itself, so the generic ones sometimes cause issues. The other question I am wondering is if there could be a compatibility issue between the motherboard and Nvidia chipsets as it does happen on a rare occasion; IE. does the issue repeat as well with either the integrated graphics or with an AMD video card?

Another thing I was wondering is if you're running the latest BIOS on your motherboard. It is another thing to check as well.

There is also an interesting forum posting I saw that might be related to the issue you're having:

Iam thinking that might be an issue with the mobo and nvidia cards, i am using the latest driver nvidia has, but i used the past 2 and the issue was still there. i have not tried the new video card with the old mobo i had, but it was giving me similar problem with my old video card. i have ordered a new mobo, so i am hoping this will completely fix this issue, but knowing me, it wont. i have been having this issue since i started building computers, i must be missing something, but i dont get what it can be. i have way above all the requirement for the games i play, so its not even that my build is weak. its a really weird problem, because i can play games with smooth play for like 5 minutes and after that everything goes down the toilet

thanks for that link, i have read that before, its quiet old, like when it was related to the old nvidia drivers, i have tried the stuff that the guys there said worked for them, its weird how i am having the same exact issue but i cant get it fixed like they have. i am gonna give a new mobo a try and see if that works, but if it doesnt, i dont know where to go from there. i changed literally everything i could
