There are four versions of Windows 7:

Starter
Home Premium
Professional
Ultimate

The most common version is Home Premium, so assuming you have that installed, you should be able to run DosBox. To find out what version you're running, right-click on Computer in Windows Explorer and select Properties.

You can run dos games in dosbox v .74 if the game is on the compatibility list.

In Windows 7 Pro or higher you also have the option of downloading three files from Microsoft and running XP Mode, which does well with old DOS games, but that is unrelated to dosbox.

DOSBox has no special dependencies and will run on any version of Windows
