With wireless, do you live in an apartment where there will be MANY competing wireless signals? Have you looked at what competing WIFI signals you have with something like
WIFI Analyzer ?
For gaming, you will ALWAYS be more consistent with wired networking. Even
powerline networking will be much more consistent than wireless.
To really verify if there is a problem with your internet provider you need to use wired for benchmarking. Wireless has too many variables to be used as a benchmark. If you can take a laptop and connect wired to your router, that will give you the best indication if you are having ISP problems..
You should login to your router and manually override the DNS providers that your ISP is giving you with the Google DNS servers to see if that improves your browsing. It won't change the lag in games.
