ok... So i will try my best to explain whats going on. So I have a Linksys wireless router set up as an access point to cover some dead zones and that is working fine when connected to it and I CAN access the windows share perfectly.

Now if I am on the other side of the house and connected to the main wireless router which the computer with the share is connected to I cannot access the share or even ping the computer.

Its kind of boggling my mind because I disabled the firewalls on the main but still nothing and this always worked perfectly before I placed the access point in the network.

Diagram as to how everything is layed out: http://imgur.com/qtPvtmh

Any ideas?

Side note: I am mostly using an android tablet to access these shares but I am using a laptop for testing purposes and it will not work on either.

Agreed, odd issue. I assume that you have had the access point working fine for a while? Different SSIDs or the same?

I would probably take a look at the wireless radio signals with something like inSSIDer, you can get the older free version HERE to see that both still have an adequate strength and that no new nearby signals are interfering.

Is this a new problem? If you are referring to a network shared drive, it could be a simple sharing/security issue.

What OS is the file server with the shared network file running, Windows 7? If so, you need to make a few easy changes on that machine to make it accessible to the entire network. I guess that you have already used the share tab (right click drive and select advanced sharing, then sharing tab and select sharing. But did you also go onto the security tab and create a new user group called Everyone and give that group full access?

Thanks for the reply RealBeast. Yes this only started occurring last night. Before that I was able to access the shares no problem. The OS is Windows 8.1 with the drives in a software Raid.

As for permissions I currently have an everyone group in there with "Full Control" enabled.

Also I should not I do not think this is a permissions issue as it works fine when on the left side of the house ( Linksys access pint) but not when on the right though the Router.
