I want to know if overclocking my processor just 0.1-0.2GHz makes any difference to the performance or the temperature of the CPU. I have a coolermaster hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler installed and my cpu is running at 30C on idle and about 50C-60C on load at the moment.

Solution

Grab a couple of 120mm Gentle Typhoons and set up a push/pull config with them. You can reuse the original fan from the Hyper 212 as the side intake fan. I currently have my i5 3570k at...

Is there much of a difference in which case fans I use? I was going to get a 140mm coolermaster fan as an intake for the side and a 200mm for a exhaust on the top but now I'm wondering if maybe the typhoons would be better. Also, I've had this cooler for a while and I thought maybe I should get another fan for it on the other side but maybe thats overdoing it.

Grab a couple of 120mm Gentle Typhoons and set up a push/pull config with them. You can reuse the original fan from the Hyper 212 as the side intake fan. I currently have my i5 3570k at 4.2GHz on stock voltages idling at 28°c and pushing up to 50°c during heavy gaming sessions. I use a Xigmatek Dark Knight cooler with two 120mm F12PWM fans from Arctic Cooling and not only does it cool wonderfully, but it's damn near silent.

EDIT: My rig as she is at the moment http://imgur.com/a/loTYS#0 Though I am expecting delivery of my new NZXT Source 340 case in 10 days :D

Thats a good idea but my coolermaster fan on the cooler has been making a grinding noise for a while so I need to replace that too. So if I make a push/pull setup for my cpu cooler, will a 200mm fan on the top of the case not be all that useful?

Probably not, no. Ditch that fan then and get 3 of the Gentle Typhoons instead.
