Brand new system.

Corsair 900d
Rampage V
5930k
H100i cooler
AX1200i
16bg corsair Dominator Platinum 2800
2x Samsung Evo 256 Raid0
Win 7 ultimate fresh install
Bios update
2x 6950 GPU

On stock settings it will boot to windows and stress test on all platforms passes fine. However, any change to the multiplier, vcore, or dram frequency, any change results in Blue screen of death after windows logo on boot up. I have been tuning and trying everything for 20 hours now, nothing works. I finally went Into the AIsuite and did the 5 way optimization and chose the 4.4ghz CPU setting and let it reboot and windows loads and no issues. Checked the CPU-Z and it is at 1.31 volts and 4.4ghz. Ram is at 3000mzh. I tested all stress tests and it remains stable at 4.4 and never exceeding greater then 69 degrees. Okay so then I rebooted and went into the bios and saw that the tuning used the XMP 3000 setting and I didn't change anything, just left without saving and no changes and again.. BSOD at windows logo. Never changing anything it doesn't makes sense. I am forced to go back to stock settings and retune and if I reboot and never enter the bios it will load and boot at and remain at 4.4 stable. Changing anything or even going into the bios has the same effect, windows won't load. I am not seeing any high temps, bad voltages, nothing. I am preplexed. Strange note upon BSOD, my Intel raid controler seems to vanish thus my two EVOS vanish and it boots right to bios and after doing a hard reset it is fine again but still the same results on anything but stock settings or 4.4 tune and left alone.

Could my CPU be bad?
Memory bad?
Motherboard bad?
Hardware conflict?

I need major help please. Oh and my BSOD error is the common Machine Exception.

Hi Matt,

I have faced the same problem like you in the last two weeks. I will describe in few words my experience with this issue and hope it will help you or give you a starting point.
My current system is:
Rampage V extreme, intel 5960x, 2 x 16Gb kit G Skill 2600, for OS drive i use Plextor 256Gb m.2, GTX 980 MSI gaming 4Gb, Corsair 1200W 80+ platinum.
My previous mainboard was a Asus x99 WS. Same problem with BIOS as current Rampage .... B.S.O.D on any changes of bios.
My step in order to rectify this problem were:
I changed the mainboard with the Rampage - same problem
I changed three sets of memory - same problem
I tested with GTX 780 Ti - same problem
Probably the logical conclusion is that the processor have a problem. But also we should keep in mind that the mainboards are new released so probably new bios updates can fix those issues. My supplier was kind enough to replace my all this components and now i feel that i can not ask him to unseal a new processor just for me to test that :) .... hope we will have our answer soon.

In case that you find a solution to that please leat me know.

Regards,
Antonio G

Have you tried tuning your VCCSA voltage? The auto setting may not be the correct voltage as these processors seem to be pretty pick when it comes to RAM speeds higher than stock 2133. This is known to cause booting and post issues. You can try manually adjusting the offset for this voltage up or down in small increments to see if it fixes the problem. In my case w/ X99 Deluxe, using same ram as you, the XMP-3000 will set voltage to 1.2V. People are having better luck close to 1.0v @ 3000 ram speed. Are you running the strap at 100 or 125 with your xmp profile? Adaptive or Manual voltage?

Actually the second kit of ram was also defective. I must be the most unlucky guy in the world with brand new ddr4 memroy

Beleive it or not I got defective memory for the third time. I tested them one by one and guess what ? There's a stick that wont boot only 3 out of 4 are good. Computer work fine with two stick no crashing issue.

I'm getting a refund. That's the last time I buy g.skill memory. Stay awag from the g.skill ddr4 2133mhz blue kit look like there's a high defective rate on it.

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I am facing the exact same issues as you. I'm getting great OC with the 5 way optimization, but any manual changes I make in the BIOS gives me a BSOD. Even if I reset the bios to optimized defaults, and then raise the vcore by .001, I'll get a BSOD.

would really appreciate it if ever you found a solution.

Listen here people.....

I've gone through this hell before. It's really bad. X99 just sucks for some of us who share the same issues. I believe the common problem is related to the bios.

Here is my experience. Numbers below reflect # of Hardware Swaps:

1. Asus ROG, Corsair Memory, 5820k, 980 = Change any bios setting to manual and overclock fails.
2. Asus ROG, Corsair Memory, 5820k = Change any bios setting to manual and overclock fails. Even under clocking the CPU. Even changing "Auto" to "Manual".
3. Asrock, Corsair Memory, 5820k. = Switched Core Frequency to 4.5ghz and Vcore to 1.3v.

It finally works. Although, I got some sort of boot issues where after loading bios it would restart even at stock no overclocking settings.

RMA'd the motherboard.

Kept the CPU and RAM. Sent back the 980gtx.

4. Gigabyte SOC Champion Motherboard, 5820k, Corsair Memory, Titan X

Same Issues. Anything from "Manual" to "Underclocking" resulted in BSOD or Overclocking failed.

Updated BIOS to the newest. Same issues. Updated Bios to the Oldest same issue. Updated to the second oldest bios. And Finally. I'm able to overclock with issues.
