Hi expert,

I have motherboard Asus P5QC with 2g Ram Kingston KVR1066D3N7 2G ddr3 ram. So i decided to buy one more stick, and i bought same model ram low profile. Windows 8 cant start up with only new one installed or both rams. I noticed different cas settings. Help me please.

Ram is sold in kits for a reason.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards can be very sensitive to this.
That is why ram vendors will NOT support ram that is not bought in one kit.
Although, I think the problem has lessened with the newer Intel chipsets. Still,
it is safer to get what you need in one kit.
Go to a ram vendor upgrade app and enter your motherboard.
You will get a list of supported kits.

Your best chance at getting mixed memory to work together is to use the slowest clock frequency of any DIMM you are using and using the highest latency of the DIMMs you are using. If that still does not work, you might try raising the DRAM voltage by one tick or two. If that is still a no-go, you may have lucked out and there is not much more you can do about it.

When I do any RAM installs or upgrades, I always buy a complete set at one time (it can be two packages, but I double check to make sure the RAM is the same manufacturing run (if the RAM looks different or has different chips on it)). Sometimes it means I end up with 4GB or 8GB of RAM sitting on the shelf....but you are always assured of having the best chance of success this way.
