Hello, I am thinking about building a new gaming desktop and I currently have the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 CPU and the GIGABYTE EP43-UD3L Motherboard with 8GB of DDR2 RAM and the GIGABYTE GTX 670 Graphics Card. I want to either upgrade to the AMD FX-8370 or the Intel Core i7-4790K. I want to also get the XFX R9 290X Graphics Card. I love both AMD and Intel to death but I want to get the processor that will have the most physics. I also need 16GB of DDR3 RAM and I am on a budget right now to get $500.00 of parts right now but I don't need the desktop running until the end of November. Which one would be better for physics? And if I overclock the AMD FX-8370, will it get a better physics score overclocked?

Gaming would be about the same
The FX would be competitive in encoding tasks , and more so when you factor in the price difference
