GTX 980 worth it?

I'm thinking about purchasing a GTX 980 to go with my system but am unsure whether or not it is worth the cost. Im hoping to be able to max out games at at least 30 fps for a few years, would a 980 be better in my situation than a 970? How long do you think a 980/ 970 would last me?

CPU: i7 4770k
Ram: 8gb
Power supply: 800watts
Resolution: 1080p

A 980 is not worth the money if you want to max games at just 30 FPS.

Go with a 970. The 970 and 980 are only about 10 - 12 FPS apart in most games, so the extra $250 isn't worth it, IMO.
