Got a new video card today, everything going great then the game I'm playing starts to have some disruptions and then it crashes and I get a BSOD. I just went through an RMA to get this card and I'm pretty frustrated :/ I initially had a Powercolor 7870 XT which worked fine for over a year when the fan started to stop working so I tried my luck with the RMA process. They've been great, and very generous. But the first card they sent me just froze up over and over and now this one is doing nearly the same thing.

System specs:
i5 4460
MSI z97 PC MATE
corsair cx 500w
2 x 4gb RAM
VGA: Powercolor r9 270x

The report that resulted left the following results:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033
BDCode 116

Solution
Try download the display driver uninstaller, running it (Choose the AMD options and allow the safe mode reboot) and then reinstalling the newest drivers for your card. There may be leftovers from the previous driver installations.

Display driver uninstaller: http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU/

Catalyst control center 14.9: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows%208.1%20-%2064#amd-catalyst-packages

If that doesn't work, it's probably a bad card again. Most vendors don't send you a new card, usually, as a result of an RMA. They send you a repaired, refurbished or deemed ok card that's passed basic fitness testing. If the above options don't work, tell them you want a new card this time and that you've already been sent...

I tried this with no success. I contacted support team and they refuse to send me another one. They basically said "deal with it" because they said the other one they got back tested and worked fine. Great.

In that case it would seem the issue is elsewhere. Perhaps something in the PCI circuit on the motherboard is compromised or there is another problem.

Just to eliminate other possibilities, run Memtest86 to eliminate RAM issues. Run it for 7 passes per module. Test the modules individually or you may get false errors.

Run Seatools for windows on all installed hard drives. Run the short DST and the long generic.

Run SFC/Scannow to find system errors.
