Freezing and no POST

Hey folks, I'm having trouble isolating a problem that just started happening today. I just received my new BenQ monitor and attached it to the HDMI output on my GTX 750 ti and started up my rig. I tweaked the colors slightly to my liking and then decided to test out a game. Upon entering my first match of HotS I was greeted with a blue screen of death. Upon trying to re-start my pc, I was met with the system not being able to get to POST. Everything powers up, the fans, graphics card, HDD, and lights on the motherboard but there are two audible clicks that happen in succession every 30 seconds or so. If I leave the computer alone for 30 minutes or so, it will sometimes POST and then start up like normal, but then if I do anything on the computer it will freeze again. I believe my cpu or motherboard are the culprit, but I am uncertain and was curious if anyone else had encountered such an issue. I am running Windows7 if that makes a difference.

Can you tell us more about the problem? we need more detail.
Like;
1) Do you have the same problem before? or it just happened after you got the new monitor.
2) What is the GPU or CPu temp when you play the game even the pc is idle? Using the hwmonitor http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html or other software to see the temp.
3) Do you update the patch if there are one or some of them? or do you try remove the battery to clear the CMOS yet?
4) What is your cpu, MB, and PSU, etc?
5) Do you oc your cpu, GPU, etc?

Hey , thanks for responding. I didn't have the issue prior to the new monitor. However, I have hooked up the old monitor and the same issue occurs. My cpu temp during heavy load is around 60-65 celsius depending on the game and during idle it's around 47 celsius. GPU is a GTX 750ti and it sits around 67-70 C during gaming sessions. As far as patches go, I have windows 7 up to date, I haven't tried the clear the CMOS yet, as I wasn't sure what good that would do in this situation. The CPU I am running is an i7 950, a Gigabyte x58z -udr3 rev 1.0, and the PSU was a Xion 700 W. I just replaced it with a EVGA 750W just to make sure it wasn't the psu failing but alas, the same issue persists. I do not over clock at all.

So tonight when I got home, I was able to boot up the system and it ran normally. I opened up realtemp and gpu-z to monitor the temps and the load on each. I did a load test on the cpu, and it still held. Having tried a quick benchmark, I decided to try and replicate the freeze again. I launched WoW and sure enough within 2 minutes I was greeted with a blue screen that said "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor...

At this point, I feel like i'm looking at a faulty processor. I haven't added any new hardware to the system in over 6 months and I can't see this being a software related issue considering all of these games on this system have been played for a long time.

Yeah, I don't over clock at all so I can rule that out. I haven't updated bios on this mb ever, so i'll make that happen tomorrow and post back. I did update a driver for the monitor and so far today I have been stable. I don't think that could have been the culprit but I guess crazier things have happened.

I just wanted to update on the situation. The freezing continued to happen after the updates so the next day I opened the system up and decided to move the graphics card from the pci express x16 slot 1 down to the x8 slot 1 and sure enough all of the issues have stopped. I would have to conclude that my the x16 slot one has failed since i've had no more issues after the change. While I am thrilled to have my system stable and running again, I am super disappointed with the quality of the gigabyte motherboard and will be switching to ASUS in the near future.
