do i have to buy a z97 mobo for i7 4790 or h97 mobo? which is better and if i buy an i7 4790k which is a better series mobo.

Solution
as said above, z series allows overclocking out of the box for K series cpu's. You can still use a H series board with K cpu's but forgo the overclocking. Although some H series boards allow OC with a bios mod. So decide weather or not you want to oc, then pick a board with the features you want.

do i need a ssd and what are the use of a ssd ?

You don't 'need' a SSD, but having one will speed up your OS, boots and access times. SSD is normally used as an OS drive (or C drive- with games, if it's big enough). It is much faster than a conventional HDD so it can reduce the typical 45 sec to 1min boot time to 5-15sec. Highly recommended in gaming builds. You should get one if budget allows.

i have a standard hdd and im pretty sure my boot time is less than 30 secs. ill have to time it. I think getting past the BIOS startup takes longer than to actually load windows. Windows 8 is even faster to boot i think, my work laptop boots in well under 30 secs, and its an entry level laptop. For me i have never felt an ssd to be necessary, i never feel like im sitting there waiting for things to happen. I guess you dont know what your missing if you havn't tried one. Ill propably get one at some stage but id rather put the money to a faster gpu and have smoother gameplay than reduce load times.

any expert will agree, and ssd is an absolute must for any performance oriented computer these days. anything less would be uncivilized.

my a10-4600m laptop is faster to desktop than my 2500k+z68 desktop. the laptop seems to post in 1/4 a second. my desktop takes about 4-5 seconds. otherwise its about 10 seconds to desktop after that.

lol, then i'm uncivilised! all the experts agree! some of us are on a budget and cant all afford to chose an ssd without sacrificing something else. If i had a choice between my 7970 or an ssd (one thats actually large enough for a windows install, apps and games) i'd take my 7970 and go make a coffee while i wait the extra 15-20 seconds my pc takes to boot and then actually be able to game. I'm not saying an ssd isnt a good idea if you have the money, but as a gamer a decent video card is a no brainer choice over an ssd. I think even if i did have the extra cash at the time when i got my 7970 id still put it toward an even better vid card rather than an ssd.

i definitely hear you. an ssd is not a necessity in a computer. most can get by just fine without one. though with the current prices hard drives, you can just about net a 120gb ssd and 1tb hard drive for just over $100. for sure if i was on a strict budget i would bypass the ssd in favor of a strong cpu and gpu.

i think with lower performing rigs with light end cpus, the ssd over a mechanical drive can "wake up" system performance. with over clocked quad core i5's, the difference isn't as noticeable.
