I'm building a pc for my cousin. He is nearly ten and i think he will be using the pc for school stuff and games like Minecraft and turbo dismount. While i think those games will run well. Would i be better buying a Athlon 760k or FX4300 to pair with my 7770 1GB which i have left over from upgrading my pc to an R9 280x. If you have any better CPU's to put with the 7770 please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Solution
Be sure to get the exact 4GB model as you currently have, or you may face compatibility issues. CXM is low quality, that's what I've seen, but will power up the build. Good luck.

Yeah I just seem to like amd for some reason and i think with the budget I have (£400) it would be the better option.

I went for the prodigy because it's one of the smallest cases that can fit a Micro ATX board and my cousins house is tight on space.

I have the Corsair left over from a previous pc build in which it was used for 8 months. Furthermore it's semi-modular so i thought it would make cable management easier in the prodigy m,

+Windows, Keyboard+mouse, WiFi, DVD drive, GPU= ~400 quids, and will perform even better than FX 6300.

I the case would be to big and the MB would not fit in a smaller case. Also would a FX4300 be better at newer games due to its extra to cores? Or are these extra cores not as efficient as the i3?

We're back to the AMD vs Intel arguement. FX 4 can't compete with i3 in terms of gaming. It's more like vs Pentium. FX 6 competes with i3, FX 8 with i5. And i3 is Hyperthreaded dual core, with more than enough juice to defeat FX 4 in ANY given game, and edges out FX 6 on stock.

Better build, will still loose to i3 w/o OCing. 4GB RAM will be on it's edge on newer titles. Did you see you can go 8GB RAM with i3? I'm no fanboy, will recommend what's better raw performance wise, and no matter how hard you try, i3 is indeed a good CPU for that budget. You get a new PSU in that budget too.

Buying an after market cooler is extra cost for OCing . I can always add another stick of 4GB later down the line can't I? As for the PSU i think it wil do the job. I really appreciate all your feedback and wish you well in the future.
