Hello All hope you can help me, I am not very Technical so sorry :??:
I have been having BSOD probs, PC crash/freeze/restart probs (shortly after starting pc), beep codes (1 long) or 4 short, all for about 10 months.
Over time I have replaced the graphics card and 1 stick of ram and re-installed Windows.
Now I mostly get the pc restarting on its own, or pc freezing, or a BSOD (last one was error code A1), all happening after start up. Having said all that once over this daily hurdle PC runs fine all day without probs!
My guess is I either have a ram stick problem still, or a motherboard problem, or an overheating problem, or power supply problem, not sure about BIOS?
I can't be sure that my pc repair man is being completey honest with me so I do need your help, I am not able to do very much with my hands this is why I have to get a pc repair man involved.
Please advise me what you need to know so you are able to help me, but please be aware that I am a absolute noob when it comes to tech stuff!
Thank you in advance to any kind soul that is able to help this poor little XShydoveX

Solution
First thing is to check that you have the latest bios version installed for your motherboard. There are plenty of help website online to tell you how to do this . Just type in "How to check latest bios version" into google (other search engines are available). You will have to find out what motherboard you have and so then check on the makers website which bios version is the latest. It should also detail what fixes were made in the latest bios to fix previously known problems. Your pr repair man SHOULD know if the latest bios has been installed, so ask him to confirm.

Also, Toms has a thread on the beeps you describe here.
