Hey there

I recently upgraded from 3x 580s to 2x 980s. Where the 3x 580s had 3x DVI 's, the 2x 980s have 2x DVI and 6x displayport. I would get 120hz across all 3 monitors [120|120|120] but now I get 120hz through DVI but 60hz through displayport. [120|60|120]

Is there anyway to remedy this or am I out of (3D vision) luck. :(

thanks in advance

Solution
hdmi 2.0 should do 4k 60hz so i would assume it is okay.

a dual link dvi cable will work and display port most certainly will.

the link i have above shows you what ports to connect everything to and that just may be the issue. certain ports are turned off in SLI it appears, but the link I found all of the options and exactly which card to plug what into. I hope that helps.

and btw it was 3 am out here when i was drunk earlier. drunk tech support and 3 best answers, what am i doing with my life.

Are the displayport cables old? new standard cables can handle much more data, you also need to check the capabilities of the monitors, do they support the resolution at 120hz through displayport? I would guess they do, but thats where i would start.

I am not going to help because i am drunk and your avatar freaks me out. jk

I would gamble on the cable as display port should have no issues.

I would test this by just using one monitor with the display port and see what happens.

I didnt select that as the best solution... How do i remove it?
my phone must be freaking out...

@andykb7: The display cable is brand new, i dont know if its active or not, it was pretty cheap so im guessing that it wasnt. It is a DP -> DVI cable, as my monitor doesnt have a DP socket. Maybe i need to get an active one??

@fkr: lol your drunk right now, but early bro :p. I think i might of gotten the wrong cable :/. Each monitor has the 120Hz drop down option apart from the monitor with the DP cable

@Calvin3200: HDMI wouldnt be able to handle 120hz.
