I completed my new build and everything is working well. I've read on several build threads you need to test your pc and then watch for heat and CPU issues. Im not overclocked at this point and dont think I will need to. Do I still need to test and benchmark? If I do run the tests how do I know what is abnormal in regards to heat and temp so I can end the test or even know the test was unsuccessful?

Thanks for all of your help!

Freezing, stuttering, crashing, BSOD are signs of instability.

You might also see graphical artifacts or weird colors if the GPU is unstable when testing Furmark.

If temperature for the CPU/GPU is too high (like over 40-50 degrees when idle, or over 80 when at load/testing) depending on the ambient temperature in your room.
You don't have to benchmark, but stability tests like Prime95 and Furmark will flesh out any system instability that might bite you later. At the same time you can use HWmonitor or other monitoring software to see if temps are alright.

If alls good then set a restore point and backup so you don't have to reformat if shit happens. Don't forget to have all drivers installed.

Will the monitoring tools know if there is an issue and alert or do I have to go out to each manufacture, find the specs and watch for performance issue based on the manufacturers specs?

Example - If there are CPU issues and the CPU is getting too hot will the monitoring tool show that the CPU is getting too hot?

Thanks for all of the advice.
