I'm tring to upgrade my psu and i have narrowed it down to:

Rosewill CAPSTONE-650-M 650W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS GOLD, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Modular Active PFC Power Supply

AND

Rosewill PHOTON Series PHOTON-650 650W Continuous @40°C,80 PLUS Gold Certified, Full Modular Design, Single +12V Rail,ATX12V v2.31/EPS12V v2.92,SLI Ready, Crossfire Ready, Active-PFC Power Supply

The main difference between the 2 is, amps and operating temp. I can't find any information on the photon series so I'm guessing it's fairly new. The base price of the Capstone is more but it would seem the Photon is a better unit. It runs cooler with slightly less amps @3.3v but slightly more @12. Now I'm not to sure if more amps is necessarily better.

My gut says go with Photon but I can't get past the base price difference between the two. Why would the Capstone be more? Is it because they don't make it anymore?

Solution
I would go with the Capstone personally, because it's known to be of decent quality. The Photon looks good on paper, but you never know.

When NZXT was first getting into the power supply business, I bought one of their much-hyped 850W units that was supposed to be good ... nope. It came with a 2-year warranty and was dead in 2 years and a week. (Called them up and they said welp, too bad, sucks to be you - which is why I never buy nor recommend anything from NZXT anymore.)

Anyway. Both PSUs are probably fine. My own opinion is just to go with the known quantity until there's been 6 months or a year for the other one to be tested by the experts and proven in the field.

Sounds good to me, I just barely looked at the newer PSU, wow I am impressed, this one actually would be great for your system. I would go for the Photon! :D
