Windows 7 Black screen error

Nearly every time i boot up my computer i get a black screen message saying you have a disk read error please press ctrl+alt+del to- restart your computer. After doing that sometimes it just works and boots windows up and other times it asks me to select windows 7 as my OS. I don't know if this is the problems but it says booting from cd drive when i have installed windows already and changed the first boot drive to my hard drive with windows on. Please help this is really annoying !

Use the diagnostic software from the HDD manufacture, could be dying.
You may be in luck and be able to have it replaced under RMA.
I would also create a set of backup DVD's if the pc is from the likes of Dell, HP etc, so you can restore the OS, back to the recover partition.

The thing is i have 2 hardrives one for my OS (which is the one where i am getting the error) and one for everything else. I formatted my os hardrive and re installed os and still same error. I thought i would install windows on my other drive so i did and still the same error. I formatted both drives and re installed on the os drive and my secondary and still the same error. I find hard to believe that both drives are done for ?
