Hello everyone, I am looking to upgrade my memory very soon here and I am torn between a DDR4 or a DDR3 setup. My motherboard is a stock DELL XPS 8300, and I am concerned that it is not compatible with a DDR4.
The current stock memory in my dell are 4x2 2gb DDR3.

Can I push it further with a DDR4?

DDR will only fit in boards designed for DDR, DDR2 will only fit boards designed for DDR2, same goes for DDR3 and DDR4. The pins of each generation are in different places, so no, your board will only accept DDR3.

Don't worry about DDR 4, It's not that much faster than DDR 3. I don't expect it being the standard for any time soon. Also it is very expensive. Just stick with good old DDR 3.
