Hello everyone!!

I recently upgraded my GPU with the brand new ASUS STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5 and now i am going to update my CPU, MOBO and SSD!

I ended up on these three below and i want your advise, opinion and proposal of different componets:

  • INTEL CORE I7-4790K 4.00GHZ LGA1150
    ASUS MAXIMUS VII FORMULA
    SAMSUNG MZ-7TE250BW 840 EVO SERIES SSD 250GB 2.5'' SATA3

I am waiting for your reply!! ;)

P.S. Now i use the AMD FX-8320 8core 3.50GHx and the ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0

It's overkill really. It'll work perfectly fine, but you can do it much cheaper, even without downgrading the CPU.

The only substantial advantage of the Formula over the Hero is that you can hook up that shield to a watercooling loop. If you don't plan on doing a custom loop you may just as well go with the Maximus VII Hero and save a bunch of money. Even the Ranger is still an excellent board.

Also note that for gaming the i5-4690K performs almost identical to the i7-4790K. That could save you another $100.
