CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor

Motherboard: MSI B85M GAMING Micro ATX LGA1150

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V

Case: Thermaltake Armor Revo Gene ATX Mid Tower

Power Supply: Corsair RM 1000W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX

Monitor: Haven't decided yet.

This is what I can get on my local store (can't buy online). I want to know how good this is.

*Purpose: Gaming on Ultra High/High most new games.

I want some help with the monitor (24" and above), just give the specs a nice one should have. I don't ask for brand or specific model because I probably could not get it here.

At the beginning I was with a different Power and MOBO, but the store guy told me it was too weak for my config, true? He told me I should get a better MOBO and PS so in the future if I want to upgrade I don't need to change to much.

Motherboard: ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150
Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX

I won't be buying a PC for a long long time.

If you think something must be corrected, please tell. I want the best I can get for around a thousand dollars more or less. A build that can be upgraded in some years without problems.

Thanks in advanced for the time.

You don't need a 1000W PSU for a 970. If you want to go SLI you might need around 800W, but the 600W should run one. Personally it might be cutting it a bit too close, so I'd go for the 600W.

The ASRock H97M PRO4 would have been fine but 1000W is way too much or a single GTX 970 build. You only really need a decent 550/650W. Corsair CX series aren't decent.
Seasonic or XFX or EVGA G2 series PSU are good. Corsair AX, AXI, HX and HXi series are good, rest aren't that good.

A 550W/650W Tier 1 and 2 are good of this list:

I would avoid Tier 3 and lower but if not possibly, a 650W or higher Tier 3 PSU is needed.

The mobo is amazing for your CPU, the PSU is a piece of shit to put it lightly. It will burn out all of your componets in a month. This is because the capacitors are horrible on the CX series of Corsairs PSUs. I woul get a 550W from XFX which will be enough for your causes. Also, ask him what the cheapest H97 mobo they have is as I believe this one is a bit expensive. Get two 4GB sticks of RAM as one 8GB stick will not work with other RAM as well as kit RAM works. If you wan to upgrade, you can just buy another 8GB pack of two 4GB sticks and you will have 16GB which will last you at least 7-9 years until DDR11 comes out by 2018.

Thanks for the asnwer. First time choosing components.

I want to upgrade in the future (years). Let's say two GTX 970, coolers, RAM sticks?
I wouldn't like to have to change it because it's too short for the upgrades.

PSU From XFX

  • Core Edition 650W 80+Bronze ATX Tier 2 Class A
    Core Edition 750W 80+Bronze ATX Tier 2 Class A
    GTS3X 650W 80+Bronz Full Wired, 80 Plus Gold Tier 2 Class A
    GTS3X 750W 80+Bronz Full Wired, 80 Plus Gold Tier 2 Class A
PROseries 750W 80+GOLD, Black Edition Full Modular, ATX Tier 2 Class A
PROseries 850W 80+GOLD, Black Edition Full Modular, ATX Tier 2 Class A
From Corsair

  • RM750, ATX, Fully Modular
That's all I can get for my local store. Can't buy online. Which should I choose? Best value for the money, and saving a little ;)
Thanks for your time.

750W is fine but 850W is nice to have for the future.
You can get the gold if you want a slightly more efficient psu in converting ac to dc but 80+ bronze is fine.

If you are only going to have a 970, 750W s more than enough. 850W if you just want some assurance for 3 970s. Any of the XFXs are good, get the cheapest 750W. I would stay away from COrsair unless you are looking at their tier 2 or tier 1 units.

Would you say a 650W CS series is a 'higher tier 3 PSU'? I ask this as I will be getting a i5-4460 and GTX 970

Just stick with tier one and tier two, anything else is in a grey zone.
