Discrete Graphics no Longer Recognized (recurring issue)

About a year ago when I booted up my computer my graphics card was no longer recognized (monitor was blank). I had to plug the monitor into the motherboard directly. I tried the usual (uninstall/reinstall video drivers, etc). Ultimately I bought a new Gigabyte GTX 760 and the problem went away.

A few days ago the exact same problem occurred with the new graphics card. I turned my computer on and only the motherboard display port would work. The GTX760 is no longer listed under display adapters. I flashed the BIOS, but that did not help. I uninstalled the NVIDIA drivers but now I am unable to reinstall the drivers either from the NVIDIA website or the Gigabye website (the installer says no combatible hardware found). I made sure I was using the GTX 760 installer for windows 7 64 bit. The GTX 760 is no longer listed under display adapters.

I'm wondering if it's possible this is some sort of motherboard or PSU problem since it's happened twice now? Or is that just a coincidence and if I can somehow get the graphics drivers reinstalled that may fix it? Appreciate any help/advice.

Hi,
It is possibly it is a PSU problem. It may have damaged your GPU over time.

It is probably NOT a motherboard problem, however you can test it by plugging a different/working GPU in.

I would try a CMOS reset first. If that doesn't work, test the GPU in another system.
