So I got my abit ip35 motherboard and tested it with 8gb ddr2 800 and a q6700 2.66 GHZ quad core from intel.
Got it running on a test bench, ran the BIOS to check cpu temps, and to my surprise, it was going up and up and got to 95 degrees! In the BIOS!!! So im thinking there might be 2 reasons for this, 1. The heatsink is a very small form factor intel hsf with a weak small fan and a tiny aluminium fins.
It's definitely not an intel heatsink made for socket 775 but idk.
2. Maybe just maybe Could be that I used a cheap 35g tube of thermal paste which was very cheap. Ivery used cheap thermal paste on my dad's e6600 and he gets stabe 58c.
Also I did apply the thermal paste properly, only one pea sized dot.
So, any ideas?
