Will I Need to Re-Install Windows with an Upgraded Motherboard?

I've done a little bit of reading and I've heard that if you're switching between different companies/chipsets that a re-install will be needed. The motherboard I'm currently using is the ASUS M5A97-R2.0 which uses the AMD970/SB950 chipset, and I'm upgrading to an ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z with the AMD990FX/SB950 chipset. Is this a case where I might be able to get away with just installing the motherboard and not having to worry about Windows?

Yes you need to install windows and load everything from scratch. Keeping residual hardware drivers and other programs that think you have a particular hardware set isn't a good idea and can cause a bunch of problems.
