HDD not detected in BIOS after format.

Okay so this is what happened and I would really appreciate help. I built my rig about a month ago and loaded the OS and drivers and everything onto my HDD. Then a month later I wanted to get an SSD so I did and I put it in yesterday. After that I installed windows on the SSD so that I could boot from it. I then took all of the files and drivers I needed off of it and erased the entire drive by formatting it. Now the hard drive doesnt show up in BIOS or in Disk Management.. :( Help? Thanks

Hey MasterDell. Have you installed the new OS while your HDD was still connected to the motherboard, because that should never be done? Try connecting the HDD to another computer to see if it's detected, you could also try different SATA cables on your own mobo as well. If you can connect it to another computer and it works fine, my advice is that you use DLG (Data Lifeguard Diagnostic software) to do a Full Erase (Write Zeros) on the HDD. Here's a link for it: http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=810
Note that the time it takes to completely erase everything depends on the drive's capacity, so please be patient.

Hope that helps.

No I did not have the HDD connected during the install of the OS. But I did figure it out! The HDd was just not showing up under boot in the bios. However I did check disk management again at it was there as disk 0. So I created it as a new volume and it's all working now!! :) thanks for your help man. I'll give you best answer since your way would have worked. Cheers
