I recently made a hardware change so I get an error that says I need to go into recovery. Only problem is, I don't have a disk drive (I installed via flash drive) and I don't have that flash drive anymore. Is there anyway to download a windows 8 recovery? Or even better, a specific hot key that goes directly to safe mode/advanced startup options? Thanks so much!

All of those either require you to actually get into the OS (can't boot into windows) or either require something I don't have, which is a recovery disk or drive. Also, The F8/Shift-F8 doesn't work either.

I tried the shift+F8 command multiple times...is there any way you're supposed to do it? Do you tap both at the same time? Or do you hold shift and hit F8 repeatedly like previous versions of windows? Maybe I'm just doing it wrong

The way you're doing it should be the right way. It's not surprising you haven't hit it, I haven't had much luck when I've tried it either. Microsoft shrunk the window to hit that command in the name of speeding up the boot time for windows 8 and beyond.

Well I guess I'll try some more...I already posted on the forums earlier about the bigger picture of my problems and what exactly I did that changed everything...I got no replies so I just posted this to see if I could try to at least get it into repair mode. If you want to take a look and see if you can figure it out, go over to my profile and look at my posts.
