Hey everyone,
I've started experiencing some issues ever since I put a new build together. I looked around the forum and a few people are having similar issues, but I didn't find any solid solutions. Here are my system specs:
OS: Windows 8.1 64bit
Case: Open air
Mobo: ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0GHz
Memory: G.SKILL Ares Series 32gb
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 770 x2 in SLI
PSU: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W
This issue(s) are thus:
After streaming a video online in full screen mode, the screen will completely freeze. Sound stops, keyboard and mouse are unresponsive. Only solution is to do a hard reset. There doesn't seem to be any consistent amount of time from when the video (full screen) is started and when the system freezes. Sometimes I can run several shows without any issue, other times it's frozen after a few minutes in full screen. I haven't tested it completely yet, but it does not seem to be an issue when I'm watching a video from my HD in full screen, only when streaming. I'll test this out for certain though.
Another issue is that when I have both my GPU's in and running in SLI, certain operations will cause the screen to go blank and the fans on both GPU's to jump to 100%. The first time this happened was when I tried to run a benchmark test. It would run the video demo first, and then (I'm assuming before it got to the real benchmark test) the screen would go blank and both GPU's would go crazy. Only solution was a hard reset. This same thing happened when I tired to change an image from 250dpi to 300dpi in Photoshop. Then I tried taking out one card at a time to see if one of them was bad. When only one card was in, the screen would go blank during these same operations, but the fans wouldn't go crazy. The system was still unresponsive though, and the same thing would always happen no matter which card was in.
All the hardware I have is very new. Purchased about a year ago, but I didn't put any of the components together until about 6 months ago.
I've heard that the Nvidia drivers are cause for lots of issues, and because I have the 770's, I am unable to rollback to earlier drivers with known stability. I'm also confused because different operations that (to my knowledge) don't seem GPU heavy seem to cause the same kind of crash. I also have 2 different kinds of crashes happening.
Also, I've run diagnostics and all my system components are running below 30c in temp, so I highly doubt it's a heat issue.
Sorry for the novel length post, but hopefully that covers enough to prompt some helpful response. Thanks!!
