Upgrading to a ASUS P8Z77-M Pro MOB (from a P8H61-M) & installing a SanDisk UltraPlus 256SSD for the operating system. I'll be using a Seagate SSHD 1TB for my user/program drive vs. a WD Velociraptor. That question was previously answered. My new questions:
Before I clone the SanDisk SSD, is there anything special that needs to be done to it? I know they like to have free space, so I'm giving it some (approx.60GB) but what's ideal? I have O&O defrag, so which option is best to choose for the optimzing of my old drive, before cloning? By name, last modified, or last accessed? How does an SSD arrange (trim) it's file system for best performance? (I know they don't get 'optimized'). Should I leave the 'page' and 'hibernate' file in place or 'disabled'? Going further, once the SSD is installed, should I re-enable the page file on the SSD or the SSHD?
I already know to make the BIOS change for the SSD but don't know if more needs to be done. Because the clone will be made off the drive in the P8H61-M, does that affect the partitions (UEFi stuff)?
Info, input, keen knowledge?
Thanks (in advance)

I want to do this right the first time.

The problem with this tho is I have programs on the existing drive that I CAN'T lose. That means a clean install is out. I've had very good luck with cloning, however, I'm not real familar with the file arrangement a SSD uses. And again, should I leave the page and hibernate files off the clone until it's installed? Plus, will the pagefile operate better on the companion drive or the SSD? I'll be using a SSHD for the other drive.
I need answers about a SSD!

Thanks

You apparently have programs on the existing drive that you "cannot lose".
If...no, when...that drive dies, or gets corrupt, or accidentally deleted....poof, gone.

For any critical file or application, there should never be a case of it living on only one drive. You should always have a way to retrieve or reinstall that.
All drives die eventually. 6 weeks, 6 years, who knows.

You are correct, of course. I've grown dependent on programs that came pre-installed /w no disks for a re-install. I do however, backup. And backup often! So...in essence, I can get them back. I just wanted to know the best file arrangement for the best performance on a SSD. Just trying to get a little info to complete this build. I've been reading a bunch of posts but none really say much on this. I've read about the 4k an SSD uses, etc., but nobody has touched on how a SSD likes to have the files arranged before it's put to 'work' for the first time so that when a 'trim' is done, it likes what it sees. And, will the system operate more effectively with the pagefile on the companion drive? You don't get a choice with the hibernate file. But you can choose which drive holds your pagefile.
