I own a Foxconn
N570SM2AA, motherboard and i have recently purchased a samsung 840 evo ssd. My os is win 8.1 pro. I use the samsungs disk magician and it flags ahci mode as deactivated and sata interface as not available. I have gone through the bios and haven't found an ahci option just some ide and raid options. Am i missing a driver? On device manager under ide controllers there isn't any ahci ones. Is my mobo capable of ssd and what am i doing wrong?

Solution
vSerial-ATA Controller
This option is used to enable or disable Serial-ATA cotroller.
make sure it on in the bios.
your mb is so old it does not have achi feature do to how old the chipset is. if the ssd does not show up with sata ports on you may be sol.
