hey guys, so, I really don't want to get a 120hz or 144hz monitor, because i am not a hardcore gamer, and for my build originally, before I knew anything, I wanted to get the titan, then after researching I realized I am a moron since I will get a 1080p monitor and won't need the power the of the titan, so then i set my eyes on the gigabyte gtx980, and then still that's an overkill, then finally I set my eyes on the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 4GB Gaming card, and some people told me that if I am getting an IPS monitor, that's kinda wasted money since the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 can go way beyond 60fps right? so then, what's the highest nvidia card after the GTX 970 to get BUT STILL guaranteed I play most new games at 60fps 1080p? and is the price difference big? thanks! :)

Both cards are excellent. It just depends upon your budget. But be advised the GTX 750 Ti is an entry level card. And I don't think a GTX 970 is overkill. It is a phenomenal buy right now. And I promise you that price tag is going to go up.

I would recommend getting the GTX 750 ti. This is a great card that consumes very little power, and it is very small so you can pretty much fit it in any case. You don't even need a 6 pin to power it unless you get the FTW version. This card should be able to run pretty much every game in in at least medium settings. I'm not sure which games you play but this card is great for running most games.
It has a $150 price tag on it.

yea I suspected as much... although because I really don't wanna get a TN monitor, because I will take advantage of the IPS monitor for photoshopping and watching anime and movies and tv shows, but I also love gaming and want to game more than I do now, like how bad is the ghosting they talk about with the IPS monitors? is it unbearable?

yea I do know that, that's why I am kind of stressed, because I know when I get an IPS it will be awesome for photoshop and watching movies and anime but then again, I want to game alot more once I finish my build lol it's just I don't wanna spend alot of money on the GTX970 and the rest of my build and then still have issues with gaming you know. but thanks anyway for your response!

I would also take a look at the r9 290. It lacks some of the features the new maxwell cards have (DSR,MFAA, DirectX12) but it comes at a lower price tag. I have the gigabyte gtx 970, and It's a fantastic card and should last you years on 1080p if you decide to get that.

Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 4GB WINDFORCE Video Card ($254.99 @ NCIX US)

If you get an r9 290, make sure your PSU can handle it. Radeon R9-290 - 31A and a 550W psu minimum
