So I had a Powercolor 7870 XT and I RMA'd it. They've sent me 2 dud r9 270x's and I'm just tired of sitting around without a gaming capable device. What would be the best card for a 550w powersuply? Its a XFX Pro 550w. I've sen some GTX 760's and R9 280's that only require 500w (Link) But I've also thought about going big and getting a GTX 970 as they are power efficient. I don't want to spoil myself too bad though ;)

Well its hard to go wrong with a GTX 970. Low power consumption, very quiet, great value, and great performance in general. Yes, that card is a really great choice. You wont be spoiling yourself with this card cause its such a great choice. You could spoil yourself if you bought two of them and ran them in SLI......

Any suggestions for something on the cheaper end? Like 180 - 250 dollar range? I mean, the GTX 970 isn't out, I just want to have other options. :{)

Both of these would run on a 550w PSU yeah? Also, if I were to get a gtx 970 which would be the least power hungry?

GTX 770 - 230W , i expect, if you have Intel CPU , 550W PSU be sufficient
R9 280 -200W , 500W PSU at least
GTX 970 - 145W , 500-550W PSU

But if you have R9 270X and it works , why do you need a new card ? The only upgrade that is worth , is GTX 970 .

The r9 270x is a dud. My PC works fine though. Just tested with a 7870 GHz ed. and it ran perfect. So I need a new one
