Solution I I i7Baby Oct 23, 2014 http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z97_PC_Mate.html#hero-specification says "2 x PCIe x16 slots - PCI_E2 supports PCIe 3.0 - PCI_E4 supports PCIe 2.0 - Support x16, x4/x4 modes" so x4, x4 for SLI. Usually its x8, x8 for Z97. I'd try an Asus Z97-A instead.
