Hello guys, last year december 2013, i took the strongest video card at the price around 250$, but i forgot that a bad processor can bottelneck that awesome card, and maybe the "psu" too? well, here is the cpu, Amd Athlon 2 x3 450 3.2Ghz and i got an Atx aline 500w psu ( and i got some bad rams too 3gb ddr2 ), are these two causing big problems? since i can play for esample Arma 3 at max graphics but at 18-19 average fps, and on youtube there are ppl that are playing Arma 3 with the exact same gpu at 40 fps? but a different ram/cpu/psu. Are any of those i listed above bottlenecking so hard my gpu?

(I dont have moneys for all the pieces to buy, but i will get the parts with time, next part i will buy is the i5 4690k, at the black friday in a month and maybe 8gb ram ddr3.. who knows)

ATX is the name of the standard. It has nothing to do with a brand. I have no idea what brand is "aline " is nor where to get it. It doens't matter if your psu looks new, the decorations of the case rarely changes over time. Its the internal quality you should be worried about. You normally have a sticker on the PSU saying how many amps the 12V rails has? Can you see yours?

FX 8350 is the "cheaper" route but it depends on your current motherboard you have.
An i5 4460 is more expensive but has a higher single thread perofrmance most of the time. Most programs and games are currently still better on Intel platform. Perhaps Direct 12 will change that but we have to wait and see.

Your system is holding your GPU back, and as long as your PSU doesnt explode, it wont pull your performance down. You dont need to get a 4690k, you can just get a locked i5 which is cheaper and you can safe more on RAM

Yeah but i want it to be good for 3-4 years i cannot upgrade every year, would an i5 4460 be good for 3-4 years of gaming? not sure about that.. huh

As long is my psu doesnt explode? so that means i need a better psu? but if i change to intel, i dont think i need to change it since intel uses less power??

And if i am lucky and will unlock the fourth core would i get better performance? or it is not worth the trouble?

try to go for a fx 8350 it has 8 cores which is suitable for upcoming games and has a very good overclocking potential

Still never had any problems with this psu and i have it from over 4 years ago.. thats crazy anyways..

4 years is old for a psu. A good time to replace it is now. Just because you feel it's fine doens't mean you won't have problems later on.
I can't even find where to buy your psu which is a worrying issue. i have no idea what specs the psu has. it doens't have "500W". Maybe 374W on the 12V rails. A decent 550W will have 500W or more on the 12 V rails.

Ill give you that, you are right, its old, its very old, but still, who says atx psu's aren't good? i have this since 4-5 years ago and it still goes like new lol, anyways, i will look into change that too, thanks for the info, now, regarding that post.. is better buying and fx 8350 or an i5 4460? they are both the same price in my country, actually the 8350 is cheaper than the 4460.. wich would be better? i must prepare my list for black friday so i must know all these :D

I still think that it works with a good 550w psu, cause my old athlon 2 x3 goes for a total of 98 TDP and with my old psu it works well so.. but not sure about those processors..
