Streaming while gaming?

I have a gaming pc that I use to play bf3 etc. The rest of the family uses apple TV to stream there videos. Problem is, as soon as they begin streaming the ping on the game sky rockets, I'm wondering if there's a way to allow both to operate without interruption. Possible adjusting router settings?

Best chance to improve gaming conditions while family is streaming is to enable QoS engine on your Router(Quality of Service).

Basically it gives your computer Priority over the streaming. it may help some but not completely mediating the issue.

if you have a rented Router though you may be SOL since most ISP lock down their routers/Modems they rent out ridiculously barely even letting you choose your own network name/PAssword
