I am looking to get https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Processors/AMD+CPUs/FX+%28Piledriver%29+-+Socket+AM3%2B/AMD+%28Piledriver%29+FX-8320+3.50GHz+%284.00GHz+Turbo%29+Socket+AM3%2B+8-Core+Processor+-+Retail+?productId=52723 for my gaming PC. Will this be a good choice for playing games on ULTRA or HIGH. Games such as skyrim, shadow of mordor etc...

Will this CPU be the best I can get for my rig and Will it be compatible?

the fx 8350 is pretty much an overclocked fx 8320.
just get yourself a fx 8320 and a decent cooler (like the hyper 212 evo or zalman cnps10x optima) and it'll be the same around the same price with better cooling and the same performance if you overclock the CPU(which is realy easy)

Hello,

The AMD Fx-8320 is an awesome CPU. It was the first CPU I bought, and I haven't had one problem with it yet. As for your build, a GTX 770 is a powerful card, and upgrading to an 8320 would be a good choice.

Best of luck,
Spencer

I do want the best I can get for a good budget but I will only pay a big amount extra if there is a real difference. What would you suggest?
If the dx-8320 will run things fine on ultra. What need would there be to upgrade?

depending on what motherboard or program you use it's just a matter of sliding a slider.
you dont even have to change the voltage most of the times to reach the performance of an fx 8350. My fx 8320 is running at 4.2GHz now without a problem and I can get alot more out of it.

most fx 8320 can get +400 to 700MHz without changing anything on the voltage.

and to answer this question. the fx 8370 ofcourse is the ebst one linked here and will increase the lifespan of your system a bit longer then a fx 8320 or 8350. so if you have the money, sure go for the fx 8370. if you wish to save a few bucks go for the 8320. it's an "old" PCU but still a good one.I recon mine will last me quite a while longer

and Like I said before, it has alot of overclocking potential.

the fx 8350 and 8370 can ofcourse be overclocked aswell.

but even without overclocking the fx 8320 it'll still runs those games without a problem

You'll be fine with the 8320. It's the one I picked for my current rig. I have never been disappointed with it for a single second. I have a r9 270 gpu which is similar to what you're looking at. I play everything on ultra and don't have a single problem. You'll be fine. I do recommend purchasing a hyper 212 evo to cool the cpu with. I just upgraded my cooler to it and it's a huge difference. The stock cooler is loud as hell and not very good. With this cooler I overclocked my 8320 to 4.16 ghz and idle around 31 degrees Celsius and game around 43 degrees Celsius. You won't regret anything.

I doubt you run everything at ultra on 1080p with AA on. especialy the newest titles. ultra without AA is possible

I've got AA turned on it's highest at 8 Samples. 1920x1080 resolution and everything else turned on it's highest settings. All my view distances turned on their highest settings too.
According to Fraps I'm averaging 57.687 fps.

I don't know why you're trying to challenge everything I say. It's not like I'm claiming to have a super spectacular gaming rig. I've got a medium-end gaming pc, I don't even know if it would be considered that good. I don't have all of the latest games that are out. The game I was talking about was Skyrim with hd texture mods. It plays Borderlands 2, Batman Arkham City, Fallout New Vegas, Serious Sam 3 and other games like that at the highest settings with no problem. I was trying to give OP a realistic expectation of what he could expect from his PC.

I'm not trying to challenge, i'm jsut curious.
I used to have a gtx 760 whch ran games like BF4 at ultra without AA. and that card has pretty much the same performance as the r9 270 (slightly better)
so i was wondering if it was my card or if the games yo run at ultra are not the newest ones like shadows of mordor etc
but now that's cleared up.
my appologies for making it "sound" so agressive.
