after the upgrade my system is slow in gaming noticeably METRO LL. before the upgrade metro was smooth but now kinda choppy. Is fx 6300 better with metro ll utilising more cores? i don't even have to run fraps, difference is so obvious

note:
i didn't format windows as it detected and installed chipset drivers etc. I have the latest drivers for my gpu catalyst 14.9

i5 4460
gigabyte h97 hd3
8 gb fury
r7 265

What resolution are you playing. To Play at 1080p, you need a better graphics card than R7 265. No problem with CPU.

Also check for any bloatwares or Malwares running in your PC while gaming. (I had experience with Malwares dropping my FPS)

If I'm not mistaken its running 1280x720 with METRO LL but def not 1080p. I reset bios to optimal and now downloading catalyst 14.9.1 and lets see what happens

It was smooth running with fx 6300 in METRO with that resolution so i know my gpu can handle it. I didn't change any settings with that game. I upgraded my cpu and mobo for games that utilise single core.

My last resort is to format my hdd. tnx

You cant swap complete mb chipsets & CPU without reinstalling windows mate seriously !!
This is your problem plain & simple .
Also the 4430 isn't going to be a massive improvement if any over the 6300 when using a r7 265 GPU.
Can't really understand the upgrade - you'd have been far better keeping the 6300 build & putting any money towards a better card like the 270x or similar IMO.

- I tried to sell cpu mobo and gpu as package online and cpu mobo was sold first. Now waiting for buyer for my gpu and upgrading to r9 280x
