My system:
Intel core i3 3220
MSI Radeon R9 280X OC Edition
16 GB RAM
500W PSU
1 TB HDD
Really old monitor, 1440x900

I've been having some display problems lately whenever I play a high load game. The screen begins to flicker white in some places and the light on reflective surfaces isn't light, it's little RGB boxes. These effects only happen when I've been playing a game such as star citizen or alien isolation for a while on max settings.
I've also had some freezing and stuttering on youtube, something that's ridiculous with an R9 280X. At one point, my entire screen turned white. The video was still playing in the background, but the screen remained white, forcing a restart. I've tried updating the drivers, to no avail.

Is this my monitor, the new card, or the fact that my PSU doesn't have enough juice?
The recommended PSU wattage for the card is 500W, if that helps.

Solution
Remove the drivers in Safe Mode.
Use a utility - like AMD CLEANUP UTILITY
Remove all AMD drivers for the GPU.
Reboot
Boot into Safe Mode again
Install the drivers by downloading a fresh copy from AMD's website for your card.
After installation boot into Windows (not safe mode).
Check out if you are still having the same problems.

Hi,
Can you check the temps of the GPU when this happens?

The odd thing is that it happens when watching videos too... Watching video shouldn't raise temps too high... if any.

What kind of 500w PSU do you have?

Have you done a complete removal of the drivers?

The temps are hovering around 50C on high load, 30 on idle/youtube.

The PSU brand is Corsair.

No, I haven't completely removed the drivers, I'll try that.
