Hi. I am a computer programmer and heavy gamer...I program and play a lot of games on my Core 2 Quad PC. I have taken an admission in a University in BS(CS) and I want to purchase a laptop.

Today I went to market to buy an i3 3rd generation Laptop. I was amazed when shopkeeper said We have 4rth Generation Laptops, I didn't expect 4rth generation stuff to come so earlier in my country :v

So after a lot of searching, I found one.

CPU:
Intel i3 4030U @ 1.9Ghz - 4rth Generation
4GB DDR3 1600 RAM
and 500GB HD

and with other stuff.

Its new btw not refurbished or used...

Firstly, I am going to do a lot of computer programming stuff and not much games but I can't completely deny that. I will play games ofc. I have seen the changelog of 4rth Gen CPU and it has some new Iris techonology specially for gaming gamers games :v

Is this Laptop good enough? Battery Life? For Gaming? For Programming?

and btw, its "ACER" Good?

Just listing the CPU, HD size and RAM does not give any information if it's a good system.

What is your budget, where are you from and how much is the system you are looking at. ACER Is cheap but is in the lower half of quality.

ASUS and Lenovo are the top laptop brands for reliability.
Does it have any discrete GPU, I assume not otherwise you would have said?

Here's a processor benchmark

and a benchmark for the HD4400 iGPU

An i5 based solution with four cores might work better for your computer needs (other than gaming)

My brother-in-law uses Acer and I think of it as a decent mid-range brand. I would buy one, after researching that it was the right choice.

I am buying 1 without any GPU. It is equivalent to Dell Inspiron 3542 but in Acer brand. Its a bit cheaper but if Dell has something better I can get that too. I am a student so I want best value...

I am a good re-searcher...I know laptops can never be as good as Desktops in gaming.

For Programming:
A Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad would be enough.
An i3 is much more than required.

For Gaming:
Integrated GPU is not enough to play any game on maxxed, but I can surely taste GTA 5 or Watch Dogs on it Or not?

My above two guesses are made based on my desktop PC usage in past. My friend played Watch Dogs and even recorded on i3 3220 CPU without any Graphics card, I know laptops are different but can I atleast taste those games? If I can play on medium or low settings on that i3 I am purchasing?

My main aim is programming based or remote programming on the go, when ever wherever I want to use it, gaming comes after it.
