Hello. I have been using a sony surround reciever with hdmi inputs and optical inputs. When i watch movies on any format dvd blu-ray players and play games on consoles ps3 ps4 xbox 360 and even PC now i have to go to the settings of my sony reciever and delay the sound with the a/v sync settings. Usually i max it out to 20 for movies and games to 8. When i use blu ray or ps4 im only able to use the a/v sync of my reciever if i set the dolby or dts to bitstream on ps4 and blu ray player. When i use optical on my ps3 and xbox 360 theres no option i can just go and delay the sound no problem. But the thing is with my PC i use hdmi from my graphics card gtx 780 capable of 5.1 surround and it works really well BUT i cant delay it or change it to bitstream. I dont mind using optical to my motherboard wich is also 5.1 channel but for some reason with Watch Dogs there is no sound after the intro video when i start the game when i use the optical Real tek hd i even got the dolby live hack thing and i cant get sound. So in the mean time while i play Watch dogs i use Hdmi. My question is: is there a settings hidden or soemthing to change it to bitstream or a sound delay option in the nvidia settings? Or a hack(mod) whatever??

Thanks hope theres a solution cuz im one of the few who love the game Watch dogs but it sucks that the sound doesnt match the mout or exploaions sound too early. Not by mutchmaybe 8 ms. By the way i use my led 3d tv for display.

Hi,
I also had a Sony A/V Receiver (STR-DH520).

I never had any issues with audio delay. On the receiver you can turn A/V Sync on. With this on, are you still having problems?

In order to get the PC to bitstream use the Windows Control Panel for Sound options. You can setup your speakers, 5.1 etc.

I set my system up using Shark's 007 codecs. I set it up to bitstream all audio.

I also set the receiver to AUTO format, instead of selecting one. This way the receiver will play whatever source signal it receives.

I hope that helps.

I think you might want to try a DAC to hook up to your PC via a USB port and then hooking it up to your AV receiver so you could get an optical signal to the receiver without using a buggy sound card or the onboard solution. Mayflower makes great DACs.

Also Nvidia's implementation of bit-stream technology is purevideo. You could try finding some third party software to limit your framerate with the audio so it doesn't render frames too early and get ahead of the audio and vice versa.

I always have a/v sync on for movies at 20 and 8 for games. Led tv is normal usually for audio and video being out of sync with hdmi reciever to tv. Some tv are less worst i think. Anyway i cant with the pc with hdmi i tried and also check control windows audio its already in 5.1 and all i have no problems with that except delay... I see no bitstream option. For frame rate i dont think that would work cuz its not the graphics card the problem.. The delay is there for blu ray players and game consoles too connected to a/v reciever. I made lots of research and its the tv. Everyone says putting it in game mode helps a bit. But it reduces a bit the quality. Tried it and dont like that it reduces quality and it doesnt help with the delay at all for me. Even when i turn off some fancy noise reduction option on tv. Anyways its just watch dogs i cant use optical through my asus rampage iv black edition realtek hd on board audio. No sound after intro and just music on menu but no sound at all during game play or cut scenes. But other game no problem with optical its 5.1 surround.

Is there no 'auto' for a/v sync on the receiver?

Can you check the sound options in Watch Dogs? The intro is most likely just a movie file that contains an audio stream.

Maybe the game audio is trying to use a codec you don't have installed? I am not really sure though.

Still not solved. Gtx 780 with hdmi is great sound and the only one i can get 5.1 with The Evil Within. With my optical realtek hd i only get 3.1. But hdmi wont let me use the a/v sync feature on my sound system. Usualy it does with hdmi on ps3 and ps4 when i set it to bitstream. Any way to do this on pc?
